There's 4 basic scenarios to think about. (depending on where you live in the world).
1) He won't report it to the cops and beats the cr&p out of you in self defence.
2) He doesn't report it to the cops and you beat him up.
3) You beat him up and kill him because you go to far.
4) He reports it to the cops and claims you enticed him to the location under false pretenses. In this case you will go to jail having been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm (GBH), along with entrapment and anything else the cops can think of such as vigilantee'ism. He may or may not be charged with anything.
From what I've read online most predators will not go to the house of their intended victim, instead they prefer to meet the victim away from their house at a location of the preditors choice.
Finally, people who take the law in to their own hands, no matter how well intentioned almost always end up in serious trouble with the law, usually with criminal convictions and that will put pay to any chance of a decent job, life or woman in your life. Let the law enforcement professionals deal with matters in their own way in their own time. If you do discover someone masquerading as a youngster in a chat room and they are soliciting or grooming kids report it to the police and include the offenders I/P or DNS address, their nickname and a timestamped log of the conversation.

if he reported it you would probably be charged with assult. Not to encourage you or anything but he probably wouldn't call the cops. What would he tell them? That he stopped by to have sex with a little kid and found you instead?
