I try to shut off all the sound around me at least once a day and take in the wonder that surrounds me. Here is what I most recently heard:
The Dulcet tones of my neighbor screaming at his wife. It was loud enough that I could actually make out the line "Well you knew I had a female secretary and you didn't say anything!"
The soothing harmony of Dewey, the neighborhood alcoholic, snoring in my front yard.
The rhythymic tink! of bird crap hitting my paint job yet again!
The soft hiss of the gas leak releasing itself from the earth by my driveway.
The click of a zippo lighter as Dewey awakens and fires up a marlboro.
The "whump!" As Dewey bursts into flames due to the gas leak.
The echoing screams of Dewey's last moments on earth.
The sound of sirens.
I'd tell you more, but I can no longer perform the expirement. CSI is coming on so I have to turn on the TV and shatter the silence

Several different train whistles (one of my favorite sounds of all time), street noise, a persian man smoking what must be very strong pot upstairs based on his inability to hold it in without coughing excessively, several hundred children laughing and playing in the schoolyard several times a day (another pleasing sound), an occasional police siren, a powerful v8 that roars down the street at around 1 am almost every night, an occaisional drunken group of teenagers outside my balcony. and the white noise of a nearby freeway which is almost inaudible unless you think about it.

Kids playing and shouting, birds, lawnmowers occasionally and a car pass by every now and then. I live opposite a primary school. Oh and 6 times a day I hear the school siren signifying recess or calling them back into class : )

Daytime: light traffic noise, the occasional siren, birdsong, the wind rustling leaves in the trees. rain if raining.
After 8.00pm:
The occasional car, night birds in spring/summer and the wind in the trees if it's windy, rain if raining. Occasionally if someone's having a party some music and human voices (mostly at the weekend).

Well, it is night here, so I only hear the wind blowing. An occasional dog barking in the distance. In the day time I hear birds, frogs, wind blowing through the trees and an occasional car.

Absolutely nothing, the crickets have retired for the year, all of the dogs are asleep and a car only passes about once an hour. It's beautiful.

I'd hear the darn trains one after another, I hear one now ugh. Sometimes there are people outside with their kids talking and playing. It is raining as well so I can hear that. Goodnight!

During the day dogs barking (not too loudly, though), the waterfall across the street and some wind.
At night, more than likely coyotes.

I honestly don't know what I hear. I live in the jungles of Okinawa, I hear lots of birds, bats, insects, snakes, mice, rats... many more things I am unable to identify. I probably don't want to know... I might not go outside anymore.
It's pretty scary though... and it's a constant array of sounds morning noon and night.
