Never Been Kissed
Back to the Future trilogy (They're especially wonderful when watched end-to-end!)
E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
Encino Man (friendship emphasized along with the humor)
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (friendship again, plus history offered with some fun)
1776 (a musical about the writing and signing of the Declaration of Independence~funny, bittersweet, full of wonderful songs and terrific acting)(They'll barely realize they're learning!)

Clueless
The NeverEnding Story
The Last Starfighter
If they would like to see some more classics (some listed above), I'd suggest these:
Gone With the Wind

Casablanca
The Day the Earth Stood Still
The Haunting (original)
The Innocents
Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid
Bonnie & Clyde

Forbidden Planet
The Time Machine (original)
The Grapes of Wrath
The Red Shoes (with Norma Shearer)
Born Yesterday (the original, not the remake!)
The African Queen
The Adventures of Robin Hood (with Errol Flynn)
