Just asking, give your opinion, but please avoid being biased and fightful. (I can't stand that). Be mature in your answer.

Do you like George Bush [as a president]? Why?

No. Almost every president has a mixed tenure in office. Nixon re-opened realtions with China. Johnson had his Great Society. What exactly has G.W. Bush accomplished that I can honestly say has been worthwhile and a balance to all the horrible mismanagement and stupidity? I can't name a single worthwhile thing about the G.W. Bush presidency, and I've tried to think of something.

I don't know if there's a single president who has done so much to hurt America while in office.

Bush has:
Ruined the reputation of America

Driven up the national debt

Mired us in unwinnable wars

Allowed a huge trade deficit to go unchallenged

Failed the nation when New Orleans (one of the premiere
U.S. cities) was hit

Introduced new lows of torture and secret prisons

Repeatedly mislead the American people

Shrouded the government in increased secrecy

Expanded PR misinformation and marketing tactics

Divided the nation as a people

Given grossly unqualified cronies jobs in return for personal loyalty

Worked to repeal basic freedoms like habeas corpus

Expanded spying techniques on citizens

Allowed the U.S. to be hit by Bin Ladin while fully knowing prior that Bin Ladin was determined to strike the U.S.

What exactly has Bush accomplished that would balance against this long list of crimes, stupidities, and atrocities? I guess he gave tax breaks to the wealthiest of citizens and corporations. So, if you're a multi-millionaire or billionaire, I guess Bush is your guy.

Overall "Yes". As a Commander in Chief he has a good idea of what's up. Also give him an "A" for effort. There have not been to many Presidents that have had to bring this country back from a period when all and yes I mean all major markets were closed, all airline travel was shut down and then being thrilled and grilled on needing to not only go after the bad guys but also deal with a country that has lost another crew in space and let's also mention some really nasty weather, fires and other events around the world. I think if people would just take a small view they would get the "BIG PICTURE" that he has done not such a bad job. And for what it is worth. No, I do not agree with everything he has done.

Wow, what a mixed up bunch! U M, you give the president too much credit, congress & senate have much to do with that, he's not alone. And the guy who said Iraq had no terrorists till we got there, that is so naive I can't believe it!
I think he's a good man in a very difficult position & the citizens are failing to support his efforts. WE WERE ATTACKED, the war was thrown on our doorstep like a flaming bag of manure! What was he to do, say "oh, I know you really didn't that mean that, it was a practical joke that you bombed a major city, haha, we'll just ignore it!"
Get real, the entire world is at war in one way or other & we have it much better than most. BTW, blame the trade deficit on the democrats in congress, and the state of the ecomomy, and the coming recession, I only hope we're spared Hillery, we sure don't need her socialism.

Yes and no.

Yes, because I agree with him on certain key issues, such as his stance on stem cell research and immigration. I think that it is often a good thing that he will stand for things - but I also think that is sometimes to his detriment. I also think that people think he is this stupid buffoon - but the people that I've met who actually know him - always say that he really is quite smart. I think that maybe he's just not a good public speaker.

No, because I don't agree with his position on the war, spending, and education (I really don't like "no child left behind"). I also think that our foreign policy (particularly with the middle east) could use a LOT of work. For a while we weren't speaking with key countries - it was a model of diplomacy that I did not understand at all.

So, I have mixed feelings about him as a president. I think only time can truly tell - but I have a feeling that history will not judge him kindly.

Yes! He changed the tone in the White House, restoring HONOR and DIGNITY to the presidency.
He also handled himself with enormous courage, dignity, grace, determination, and leadership in the aftermath of Sepember 11, 2001 hijackings and anthrax attacks. He almost single-handedly held this country together during those searing days.
He has face much with Iraq, Katrina, 9/11 and now the California fires, and has remained strong.

He's an ok president but he is far too liberal for my tastes. He is weak on the border, hasn't prosecuted the war as vigorously as he should have, and messed up on the education bill.

However I am glad he cut taxes and that he prosecuted the war that the islamofashists started way before 9-11 (Kobar Towers, USS Cole) instead of leaving it to the corrupt and inept UN. He also nominated some good judges (except for Harriet Myers).

Kind of a toss up really.

George Bush has moral and family values. I believe he truly loves this country and wants the best for all of it's people. How much more terrorism would we have seen in our country if we had just laid back and done nothing about 9-11? I know that he's a Christian and prays to God for guidence. Alot of things that have taken place in this great country of ours is left overs of the Clinton administration. At least, President Bush has set a good example for our young people!

What I like about him:

The child tax credit, the way he responded to 9/11, the way he does not try to speak Clinton-ese ("I did not inhale. I did not break any American laws. It depends on what the definition of 'is' is").

What I don't like about him:

Fiscal mismanagement with such enormous deficits, the management of Iraq, fiscal mismanagement with such enormous deficits, the immigration debacle, fiscal mismanagement with such enormous deficits, the appearance of not being able to articulate a vision...and did I mention fiscal mismanagement with such enormous deficits?

I did not vote for him nor do I agree with most of his policies. I may even occasionally question his intelligence, however I believe he is a good man doing the best he can in a bad situation. Once he is retired from public office he will probably be highly regarded. A presidents status rises from politician to statesman once he returns to private life.

Some of the actions of his administration are highly unethical. The decision to authorize anything even closely resembling torture is a permanent blot on the reputation and integrity of this country. I have heard all of the arguments and they just don't stand the light of day. The situation of a prisoner having immediate and vital information that saves lives and knowing this prisoner has such information and knowing with certainty that what they reveal under torture is 100% correct and not simply spouted out to save their life is at least very uncommon and hardly something you make a policy to deal with day to day. A permanent policy to address something that is literally a one in a million likelihood is a bit ridiculous. There is a practical and reliable use for torture. It's to make a person admit to crimes or make statements that are untrue. That works all of the time and I am ashamed that my country stoops to that kind of atrocity.
Invading Iraq may have been a mistake and not an intentional deception but considering we now practice torture to force confessions I begin to doubt it. This administration is making us into the kind of monsters we sacrificed thousands of Americans to destroy about 60 years ago.
All of the rest of the things this administration have done can and do fill numerous books but this is enough to consider Bush a failed President.
