Resource consumption is at the top of the human to-do list. With or without technologies, the human race is beating the same path over and over: consume resources, the more the better. War is being used to decide who can have what. It is this linear like evolution that seems to be the weakness.

Every creature under heaven seems to walk the same path. It just happens that humans have the power of knowledge. This is the only thing that separates humans from animals. Even with this unique gift, humans still do the same kind of things that animals do. Humans only know how to use it to enhance their attacks.

So what is there for humanity? What is the next step? Are humans going to repeat beating the same current path forever?

In 50 years, we'll be at 10 billion souls at our current rate of growth. There'll be zero fossil fuels, zero coal and other natural resources. Wars will be fought over water. The burgeoning populations will mostly be in the third world countries.

You ask what is humanity's next step. Will our technology save the day?.....maybe. Will we change our ways and live more 'green' to avoid the impending train wreck?.....doubtful. Will there be some cataclysmic event that brings us down to more sustainable levels...say 3 billion?.....probably.

Animals do not make war!Animals are under the control of nature and there is a balance. Whenever there is imbalance, its been restored. Not for humans though. He seems to have beaten Nature. He is on his own.

The next step? Moon, mars?

Well it sure isn't looking to good, the next step is more than likely same as the last, and yes we will continue to beat and repeat, it maybe forever, but hopefully not, I guess we will see when we choose a president!

Actually I am more concerned about a big asteroid smacking into the face of the earth and not leaving us a chance to consider the errors of our ways...

Of course, we will repeat some behavior. But we also learn from past behavior/.

We didn't about cells, atoms, DNA and such, a few hundred years ago. So, don't worry, we will learn!
