Now I am really angry. This is under "Cultures and Groups", then UNDER that "Seniors"
That suggest to me, that his is a site where Senior can ask, answer and say what they fell. don;t these people think? that:_
1) Many of the folks here are NOT moblie, and it is very hard for them to get out and about, so they get on this site to interact with people of their OWN age. I mean what on earth do they have in common with 14 -18 years old. Although we do WELCOME them here.
2) I am still very mobile, but what does it matter what we talk about really? Think of all those on this site who are lonely, frail and just enjoy talking with us. They have problems, so do we all. This site is a SPECIAL SITE.
3) It is a site, where, we can give the lonely ones, love and a bit of amusement, a laugh, and answer a well needed prayer.
4) For those "so called" intellectuals, if you want your pseudo pshycology, philosophy and all the other "stimulation", there are plenty of other catergories you can go to.

5) Now what is wrong with us, taking each other, by the hand, and gong for a walk donw memory lane, we have all lived a long time. Sending out some laughter to the lonely and those who are stuck at home, and our posts make them feel part of a family, make them laugh, and God know how many of us need that!
6)We are all intelligent, and we can swing from the intelligent to the absolute zany, if we want.
7)Most of all, this site is about a bunch of people who, although, don't know each other, we like to share, care, discuss current issues, and have a jolly good laugh. And most ofall send out some love and peace to those who are less fortunate, again, stuck at home with sick husband, and wives, or with their own ailments. And you report us. SHAME ON YOU! You unloveing, uncaring, bitter people.
And last but not least. There are plenty of other sites you can go blog on, where they discuss highly intellectual subjects, just GO FIND!

Well said.
I'm 72 and home bound.
I have just founds the seniors section within the last month.
I do answer a lot of questions in the other categories.
I like the Book section because other than yahoo answers, reading and listening to music is the only thing my physical condition allows.
I do like to write and have written my personal history and the history of each line of my ancestors.
I like to work with pictures and make slide shows with music.
I'm very capable, mentally so I do my best to learn something new everyday and keep up with the goings on in this unsettled world we live in today.
I agree with your question and comments.
We need to respect each other even though we can't always agree.
Now I'm sure I have told you more than you wanted to know.
One more thing that I would like to share is a quote my granddaughter gave me.
"FOOTPRINTS IN HISTORY AREN'T MADE SITTING DOWN"
Although I can't walk on my own and do sit down most of the time, I do try to utilize my time, and I intend to leave a legacy for my posterity.
Thanks for the great question and statements.

Not entirely sure where you're coming from here, although I don't really spend a lot of time in this section (I'm 25). BUT, I did answer a question from this section once, without looking which section it was, and out of that I got a very good Yahoo Contact -- a thinking person, funny, knowledgeable, and all good things. I would have to say that she's as much a friend as anyone I only know online can be.
And no, unjustified reporting is never necessary, but you will always have some people that go by the letter of the law and not the spirit of the law (chatting, so on). NOT ME!
Have a great night!

wow justme ! I haven't been here for a while . sounds like the same old nonsense is still going on. You sure know how to tell it like it is for which I am grateful as I don't have a gift of the gab like some. As felines said I have felt safe here but lately I have felt a little threatened, maybe unnecessarily so but have backed off for a bit. I am still feeling a bit ashamed for reporting some of "the country cousins" (If only I had known) I have never done anything like this before nor will I again. I miss the fun times we have all shared with friends from around the world. How often do we get that chance to share our similar and yet different histories. How did things go so wrong? Can we get back the way it was?

Well said.
I've not had any real problems YET. When I came to YA I started out on the religion forum and enjoyed it for a while but it got very old in a hurry... Dealing with some obvious knuckle heads with little knowledge... Some obviously well educated with no understanding... And some truly seeking answers to sincere questions. For a time dealing with the sincere questions made it worthwhile but those seemed to get fewer and fewer.
Then I started cruising around looking at the other areas. I found Seniors about that time but there were only a few questions each day and I met a gentleman who told me about another answers forum. He said he thought I would like it better over there and asked me to join. I did and he was right it was a much more serious Q & A that allows ongoing threads and chit-chat and so on. I stayed there exclusively for a while but had a little bit of trouble navigating over there and came back here because of the ease of navigation and the fun on this group. I go back regularly and still enjoy it very much over there but I continue here because of the people on this one group. I particularly enjoyed the country cousins the other evening and must slip in a small explanation here.
The Chaplain don't get drunk NO MORE! He USED to (sad to say) and has seen more than one pink elephant fly over... It was when he started to see formations of sassafras and green ****-dawgs flying past that he swore off for good.
What I'm trying to say is that I agree and when the trolls get bad enough to chase me away... I will send the name of that other forum to a few and move myself over there for good.
I don't like the idea of surrendering and will fight hard. I come here for fun and to encourage others but when it starts discouraging me and pulling me down... Time to exit, stage left already (If anyone here remembers Snaggle Puss [US])

Ahhh yes! Give me the good ol' days (1983) when I got my first computer at Radio Shack. We used to have BBS's (bulletin Board Systems) with SYSOPs (system Operators) running them. It was free and we could talk to anybody we wanted. Later on, we telnetted (server was GENIE) to other sites, like Florida and even got into a BBS from Spain, Italy etc. It was such fun then. Nobody to Lord over us and punish us for everything and anything we say. I tried to find a BBS just a few weeks ago. They are all gone. >poof<
I think our biggest problem is, our questions are addressed to the general public. It would be nice if only US could read them....but then again, I probably wouldn't have found you all.

justme, you have said what so many of us have wished to say, but felt too constrained to do it.
I left this site earlier this afternoon in disgust because I was getting multiple thumbs down for no reason at all. That was bad enough, but my fellow Dragon was getting her questions pulled almost as fast as she could put them up. I watched 2 perfectly harmless ones disappear before my very eyes in less than five minutes.
Yahoo keeps on telling us that people who abuse the reporting feature will be penalized with less say in the Yahoo community. Well, I think our resident trolls have far exceded any reasonable bounds for this, and I am wondering why the heck they are still here and able to act so nastily towards us out of sheer malice. Has Yahoo NO human element that can take these reports we continuously submit about our problems with certain members, and actually DO SOMETHING about it? Or will they just keep on letting things build until we all just desert their obviously sinking ship?
I had high expectations for this site when I first came on it. I had a ball sharing my knowledge, and a few laughs occasionally, with other people. But I never had FRIENDS on here. When they created Seniors, I was just starting to get my feet wet in my second account, because my first one had been suspended due to troll activity. I wallowed in my despair for a month without touching the site AT ALL because I didn't want to go through the pain of being targetted unfairly again. But then I realized that if I let the trolls hound me off the site permanently THEY WOULD WIN. And I have NEVER liked bullies. I have fought them successfully since I was a small 8 year old (3 ft tall), taking on the school's biggest bully (16 yrs old and 160 lbs).
We can not EVER give up our site to a few belligerent people who can not understand our closeness and our support of one another. They claim we have an exclusive club and we are shutting them out...but that is just a convenient excuse, and NOT THE TRUTH.
We here on Seniors have grown to trust each other because we have been helpful, and supportive, and vulnerable, and needy, and wise and caring and everything else that signifies good friendships. And THAT is what we have done...we have built friendships. Some are old friends, others are new friends.
And THAT is why the trolls hate us. They see our solidarity and our mutual support and they envy and hate us. They covet what we have, just so that they can tear it down and destroy it.
And THAT is also what Yahoo Answers will never understand. Our little sub-group of the Cultures & Groups community has morphed into a whole different species than what manifests on the rest of YA. You can quote Community Guidelines until you are blue in the face, but a law that does not bend to recognize "special circumstances" is called a Dictatorship.

There is no reason for us to be in Iraq. Not one. Every single excuse that I've heard, there is another country that would have been more logical to invade. When the rest of the world is shaking their head you know that A) you've messed up your future relationship with the rest of the world, and B) you probably made a mistake.

Hi Just me. It is nice to see your new avatar! I will need to find out how to do that! I can't add anymore to what has been said, except that I agree with all that you have said and admire your courage in telling it like it is. I like to answer in different categories but I do love this place the best for all the reasons others and you have stated. The lyrics to a song come to mind, "If you don't stand for something, your going fall for anything" So lets all stick together!

YES! I am sorry that they made you so angry; however, I am so very happy that you stood and said what many could not or, would not! I have only been able to drop in a few times, lately but, I did read enough to see there have been some problems.
I applaud you for standing up for this section because I get pretty tired of trying to answer condescending, rude and very personal questions about we older ones. Especially, when we all have lived long enough to share much wisdom.
I hope that this post will be taken as seriously as it is meant to be! Great job!

Bravo! I agree with every point that you have made.
I will just add that we make friends from other countries that we would not ordinarily have the opportunity to do . It is wonderful to hear what it is like living in other places, learn about our commonality and the minor differences in culture.
I care about the people here and enjoy them, I ask questions and love the responses
