I plan to make some home improvements by installing the house siding. My contractor suggested to use Royal Crest which is 0.040" under one of Royal Building Products. Is this brand name good and reliable? Is 0.040" good enough in New York City? What is the most common color for people to choose for house siding?

Thanks in advance.

I think siding is pretty standard. however you can buy siding that has a preinstalled foam insulation on the backside (one brand name is Thermowall). this adds extra insulating especially good in older homes that may have poor insulation in the walls or lots of cracks and crannies where draft comes in. most people choose beige/tan or light gray. I think houses look especially good and unique in moss green or pale yellow.
