The Goths were several "barbarian" tribes who lived on the outskirts of the Roman Empire from 3rd to the 6th centuries A.D. You can learn more about them here:

Ulfnaric the Ostrogoth was probably the premier composer in Gothic history, living in the area of modern Portugal toward the end of the 5th century. While his Symphony in Wolfskin is most popularly known, his true artistic acheivements can only be found in his later Sonatas and Concertos. My favorite is his Concerto in K minor for Rocks cracking Skulls, UWV catalog # 347.
