i own a 300GT,
i got it as a graduation present from my parents.
i had a Mitsubishi Mirage
The 3000Gt is awesome.
i have the Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR-4 Twin Turbo AWD
on the Speedometer it tops out at 180.
but i have only hit 140 in it.
lol
its insane
massive amounts of HP are in that beasttttt.
i think my parents payed 11 thousand for it.
it only had 60000 miles on it.
ummm the new eclipse would beat it off the line but it would be a close race if you have the Turbo 3000GT
but yea its a fun car
and if your into the whole street racing scene like i am there is so much potential for this type of car. Theres is tons of stuff to do to it.
i Dropped bout 1000 into my car just with some parts to the engine. The stock Turbo had 300 horsepower now my car is up to around 375-400 HP
i totally recommend one!
anymore questions just ask!
Best Answer???? lol.

The guy above me is wrong the 3000GT uses the 6G72 3.0 Liter DOHC(or later models use SOHC) V6 not the 2.5 Liter 6A13 V6 from overseas markets.
Depending on what you want the 3000GT is a good or bad car. The VR4 is one of the most beautiful performance vehicles on the road with plenty or cool features an depending on your 300 or 320HP from its Twin Turbo V6.
Now if you get a lower grade SL or base they are plagued with problems from Head Gaskets to oil leaks to being a PITA to work on.
All in all if you do have a VR4 its not a car for the a person with a light wallet. Its for someone who has a passion for Touring cars and the money to give that car the upgrades it really needs

The 3000GT is VERY HEAVY, and the interior is no larger than the Eclipse. In fact, I found the 3000GT much harder to get in and out of. The Eclipse (Talon/Laser) is lighter, and thus needs significantly less power for the same performance.
There is a lot of parts out there for both, the Eclipse will cost less, and use less fuel for a given performance.
The 3000GT is stong - if you are looking run over 180 mph (500+ hp), it is a better choice.

The 3000 is a cult car, you either love them or hate them. I see 200K mi 3000's quite a bit, but they've been cared for at the dealership their entire life. The car is quirky and you should be prepared to spend money on maintaining it and repairing it. Ask to see records of timing belt replacement as well as 60 and 120K services. If these haven't been done by a dealer, don't buy the car, period. They are good looking, but FWD and not overly fast. The VR-4 is a completely different car however. Blindingly fast and super agile when the suspension has been cared for. It is a heavy car so you won't be winning any road races, but it's a blast to drive and a real attention getter.

3000GTs are worth the money. it was my 1st car. 1991 with close to 93000 miles. that sucker was fast. i would still be driving it but i got in a little wreck. now i drive a 96 eclipse, lowered and everything and i would STILL choose the 3000gt over my eclipse. if u do get one i and want to put a sweet exhaust on it then i HIGHLY recommend a Borla exhaust. V6 engine + Borla= nice LOUD deep tone. i got a ticket it was so loud. go for it bro.

The 3000GT's selling point is the looks rather than the performance. It's engine is the 6A13, which is the V6 Mitsubishi engine, which has become obselete in Mitsubishi's production models. Aftermarket parts for this engine is also very limited.
However, on the looks department, it is very hard to get a decent looking Japanese coupe nowadays. Throw in your bodykits, this car will certainly attract babes like bees to honey.

3000GT's are some of the most hideously unreliable cars ever made, since the automobile was invented. I'm talking, they may even beat out the average VW for shop-time. Unless you only want a once-in-awhile, while it's running, type of car, steer clear of this one. You'll only regret the purchase later.
