When the President and Vice President both die, who takes over?
a) Find out the next 17 offices (as defined in the 20th and 25th Amendments to the Unites States Constitution, and the Presidential Succession Law of 1947) that will take over, and in what order.
b) Then, tell me who currently holds each such office

thanks sooo much!!!

1. The Speaker of the House of Representatives-Nancy Pelosi of California
2. The President Pro Tempore of the Senate-Robert Byrd of West Virginia.
3. The Secretary of State-Condeleeza Rice.
Then the order of succession is every cabinet officer in turn, measured by the year their cabinet department was established by law. So, the next fourteen are yours to identify.

The Senator-R from Alaska was Ted Stevens.
President Pro tempore now emeritus...
Senator -D
Robert Byrd took over when the Democrats won in 2006.

Google pls :) but it took me several questions to learn that myself.
I thought as many do it is Speaker Pelosi. That's what I read until people like you asked. Wikipedia also helps.
EDIT: read it, each link I found says the Senator trumps the Congressman.

continued... I have been researching it since I read your answers ...OMG what a fright third in line ... I'm wrong sorry. But how aweful the thought. A sad end to a nice day.

Well, I don't know about the 16 others, but, if they both die, the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, will become President.
