I took the 4-semester Cisco course at the local junior college. You can take the online course or the home study course, but you won't get the hands-on that you'll need to pass the CCNA.

Let me say that again. You NEED the experience of configuring routers and switches to pass the CCNA. The CCNA is designed to be the hardest entry level IT certification. Physically sitting in front of some Cisco equipment is the only way to learn the material.

You're not going to pass the CCNA on just memorizing the test answers like you can with CompTIA or Microsoft. The CCNA has multiple practical exercises where you have to configure networks (routing, switching, protocols, subnetting, etc.).

I've looked at the other avenues to the CCNA while I was in school for some extra study help, and I didn't see anything that could compare with the ability to physically touch the equipment and configure it one command line at a time!

If you have no experience in networking fundamentals and Cisco the online course wont help you.

The courses recommended for CCNA are 2 weeks of reasonably intensive hands on type study so I web course definitely wont cut it.

websites like actualtests and testking are fairly close if you want to study exam question formats and will help with 60-70% of the questions but you need the hands on to get that extra to pass

it's only worth it if you think the cert will land you a job in that field also remember that you have to re-certify every 3 years.
