Modest Mouse and Silversun Pickups. Oh yeah Smashing Pumpkins too. My favourite band EVER. Oh and i know you said no older bands, but Radiohead were influenced a lot by The Smiths when they were starting out, so The Smiths too

Audioslave has the singer from Soundgarden, it's from the same scene but they don't sound a whole lot similar.
I know you said no older bands, but Muse got its influence from Pink Floyd.
I'm sorry I can't give that much more.

Smashing Pumpkins for the more "creep" radiohead and Keane for the softer Radiohead.
I do like muse, but i am temporarily ata loss as to who else you may like.
