Well, I do kind of like it, but you have to think about all the trouble it will be for all of her life. I mean, for the people that you know, it shouldn't be a major problem, because you will tell them that is her name and they will call her that...

...but then there is school and job applications and all the other things that come with growing up. She will have to constantly be correcting people because they will automatically read it "dezi".

I do think it sounds real cute, but you might want to think about spelling it like it sounds. Maybe Dessie, Desse, Dessi, Dessee (yikes! that one is a little bit too much!) Anyway, you get the idea. You have to think about what the child will go through because of the name you give them.

But yeah, I like it.

You cannot make people not pronounce that like Desi Arnaz just because you want it to be that way. She will always be called Dezi until she corrects people. It would make a cute nn but I wouldn't use it as a name.

Mary Tyler Moore; Desi? Nick at Nite fan? I am too. As long as you have a boy and call him Lucy, I think it's great! (Kidding) Seriously, it sounds cute but she will have people calling her DEZI, not DESSY.

It's nice, but people will always pronounce it Dezi. That's because that's how Desi Arnez pronounced his name.

You probably ought to rethink the spelling. I think if it was my baby girl, I'd name her Destiny and call her "Dessy" as a nickname.

If her name was Desi, first off people wouldn't pronounce it correctly, and all the kids would have a field day with it... "Messy Desi", etc.

Just my opinion.

I like it! Desi! So great, so unique! I think (Please, only opinion)
That it should be spelled Dessi Or Dessy...But then again, when I type Desi on my computer it doesn't come up as a misspelled word, so I'm guessing Desi is great!

Love it!

Where'd you get the name from? A book? Great name...Wicked

Desi, is the name of a region of people in India. Slightly more modernized than the traditional image of Indians. Desi is a colorful culture, everything modern with everything traditional. I'm not sure where in India they are from though.

Its a pretty name, but if you aren't Indian, then you should be aware of what the word means

What do I think?

It is undoubtedly patriotic but may not sound good as a girl’s name.
But, again, it is individual’s choice.
Many of you might not be aware that “desi” means native or indigenous in Hindi language. It is pronounced as “de” of “department” and “sea” of “sea”.
If it is really assigned as a girl’s name, it is better to alter the sound, by slight modification. In that way, “Daisy” or “Daizy” is good.

But, still I am not satisfied with the answer as well as the question.
