I just bought this vid card and right now my power supply is 425W. I have 2 optical drives, 1 hard drive and a P4 processor. When I play a game like Battlefield 2, I can smell my computer overheating, I think its the power supply, but I'm not sure. Do I need more wattage on my power supply or is it something else?

eVGA website http://evga.com/products/moreinfo.asp?pn=128-P2-N367-TX&family=17 says only 300 W required for 6800 XT. Your PSU should be plenty big -- but PSUs degrade over time. It may be your GPU overheating. Both previous answers give good advice. It also might be worth your while to open the case, run your game and try to localize the burning smell (using your nose, not your fingers!)

That should be enough to run what you have. Needless to say it still could be the PSU getting warm but my thoughts would most likely be the video card and you may need to get an additional cooler for the video card or possibly add another case fan buy cutting a hole in the side and placing ot over your CPU or maybe you have a free open space already like on the front to pull in cool air. If all else fails remove the side and place a 10" desktop fan blowing in the side you removed. I do not recommend that with the 10" fan but I also don't recommend running a computer hot either. Don't forget to add the RAM for power usage as well, it is usually about 7W per module.

Hi. That PSU is minimal for what you are doing, but check the fans and CPU cooling for dust buildup. Blow it out with a can of compressed air (not a vacuum cleaner which can cause static).
