I can't believe some of the ignorant answers here.....
I especially found Steve C to be a complete idiot....
His answer read :" There is a difference, although most people in this forum will not admit it, race and economic class had a major role in the slow government response to New Orleans."
"Had the people in New Orleans been rich and white, the response would have been prompt"
He right & he's is nuts!!!! The truth is that race does play a "HUGE" role.......not all of the people in CA who are missplaced are rich (many are poor). Also, since the majority of people missplaced (rich or poor) are white from the CA fires, there will be little if any aid to them..... Apparently in an Al Sharpton/Jesse Jackson USA white folks are trash that can be thrown out like yesterdays newspaper.
I'm sick of this, and I think that caucasions need their civil rights protected! Take a STAND! We are all equal, Bad people who think that one race desrves more are just that """"BAD"""

Right after they finish installing the asbestos insulation and heat walls! Like the big shot hollyweed start said, the people of N.O. should get the same treatment as anyone else and race and economic status shouldn't play a role in the rescue process. So.... as soon as the trailers are ready they will be shipped ASAP and the first to arrive are reserved for Sean Penn, Samuel Jackson, Algore ( I'm sure he will be there), Jane Fonda, big mouth Rosie, and last but not least Senator Barbara Boxer and Rep. Pete Start ( who will want to be there to get the truth out about how inhumane the soldiers are acting. I'm sure I've missed some very obvious stars, but the rest of you can add to the list. OH TTTT++TTT+TTTT (ticker tape) this just in....The new and improved trailers will be checked to insure high contents of Radon rather than having any carbon by products.

Yes , Californians are owed the same treatment.
Therefore, FEMA will order 10's of thousands of all new trailers that are the wrong size and configuration of lights to travel on the highways. It will take them 6 months to get them built, and they will cost triple what an ordinary trailer costs.
Then FEMA will get them shipped to a small town somewhere in Nevada, where they will be stopped and parked on vacant airport property until they rot away.
Sean Penn can move to the small town in Nevada and hide in one if he wants, though FEMA may catch him eventually and fine him $100 for illegal occupation of emergency government property.
All in favor?

Last I checked (about an hour ago, by asking FEMA) -- FEMA is not planning to send trailers -- they are giving people vouchers to relocate.
Only about 1500 homes were destroyed (only....) -- most of the rest of the people will eventually be able to go back to their homes.
Unlike New Orleans -- there are shelters who can handle the displaced people for short terms -- and no real provisions for long term housing.
But that might change -- some of the fires are still only 10% contained.

The FEMA trailers, many of which were found to be faulty are not coming yet. Some learn from their mistakes. AND then obviously others do not.
Actually, some of the residents of California are in temporary housing/shelter in a football stadium. But unlike New Orleans this one is open air. As a football fan... As to Sean Penn. He has had numerous trailers during his film career. So has his
beautiful, believe it or not, unassuming quiet wife Robin Wright.
Added next day: The Penn family lost their entire LA home including two trailers on the property. Did you know they have kids too? Nice post as usual.

They wish we provided CA with same treatment as New Orleans. People in CA would have loved a five day warning.

The people suffering in California are not members of the lazy breeder class. They will be just fine when the fires are put out. And they won't be whining for years after either.
