If I was to get a BS in Enviromental Science with an emphasis on atmospheric science, could I be accepted into the NASA astronaut program? What if I got that BS degree, then mastered in atmospheric science? Thanks

Absolutely yes. Dr. Harrison Schmitt is a PhD geologist who walked on the moon in 1972. He was the last man to set foot on the moon. He spent a total of 22 hours walking on the surface of the moon during that mission. He collected 249 lbs of rock samples on the moon. A true field geologist!

Carbonates - A BS in environmental science is NOT the same as a geology degree, much less a PhD.

I view environmental degrees as non-committal. If I were you, OP, I'd get a geology degree(s) and specialize in planetary geology.
