I am 26 weeks (27 Saturday). Is it too soon to start trying exercises to get my baby boy into position? He is breach right now and he keeps poking his head into my right rib. I am so uncomfortable I cannot sit or stand (I used to be able to stand and the pain would go away, not anymore though)... I am ready for a new experience (feet kicking the ribs!).... Do you think it would hurt the baby to try and make him turn tonight, I will try on all fours position.... any other suggestions? How did you get comfortable with the head in the ribs? Thanks!

I am not trying to turn the baby because I am concerned that he won't get into position.....I want to turn him because his head in my rib hurts! The inside of my rib feels raw.

Hi..I am 31 weeks and the Dr. says my baby may be breach. If he doesn't turn in 2 weeks I will have to look at other options. I'm doing the all four thing now, hopefully it works. My suggestion - if he's uncomfortable for you, he may be uncomfortable as well. Talk more to the Dr. about it. If Dr. says it ok to try and move him - definitely do so. Whatever you can do to help you thru this then do it as long as the Dr. thinks it's ok.

It's early to worry about the position of your baby. If there is a need for it closer to labor, your doctor will most likely talk to you about it - there are different procedures.

If you are feeling uncomfortable you can try assuming different positions to attempt to get him to move around a bit and stop pressing on your ribs. The book What to Expect has some good tips on this.

Your baby can turn positions several times prior to birth..my friend's baby was in breech position most of her check ups until a few days prior to giving birth. You are really early to have to worry about the position right now. If you are concerned talk to your doctor about it and if they think the baby needs to be turned they will do it closer to your due date and even if they have to turn the baby I have heard it can be painful at times to do this. My daughter was in good position and when they checked me 4 hours after inducing me they found out that she switched and went into breech position and I ended up having a c-section.

To get comfy just try to sit back and relax..also baby doesn't like cold feelings so get something out of the freezer like frozen bag of veggies and stick it at the top or side or wherever the baby is making you uncomfy and see if the baby will move.

All 3 of my girls turned pretty early around about 27 weeks but every book i have read they say that the baby may turn around 28 weeks so you sound like you are pretty on track. If it is uncomfortable try a little exercise just don't over do it. You will be fine!!!!

Even if the baby flips head down now, there's still plenty of room (and time) for baby to flip back and forth. I wouldn't start being concerned until week 35 or 36. Some babies turn later than that - some don't turn until labor starts!

Good luck, and be patient.

My boy didn't turn until around 29 weeks. I would give it some time. There is nothing wrong with doing a bit of yoga stretches, like the cat stretch, etc. It is good for you anyway. I wouldn't try anything other than this, you wouldn't want to harm anything.

My son was breech at 32 week ultrasound, sometime between then and 35 weeks (when I had him) he managed to turn. My friend was breech till she went in to labor. Most babies will turn on their own. Don't worry now its too early.
