Can you restate that question?

If you mean "Why is it so important for a teen to get a drivers license?" then heres the answer:

First off, it is a privilege that is given to teenagers to begin the driving process at the age of 15 1/2 and then start driving legally at the age of 16. If you wanted to start driving, why not then?

And besides, who DOESNT want to drive? Seriously? you wanna walk to work? Walk to a friends house? Take a bus to the bar? I dont think you do. Unless you ride a bicycle with 10 speeds =\

Its also a mark of adulthood. Transportation is a part of everyone's lives, and is a necessity, too.

Simply the ability to go places without depending on parents or others. Though if they live in a city with public transit that should have been possible years before a driver eligible for a license.

It marks a point of independence -- when they can go where they want without someone needing to take them -- and much longer distances than by foot or bike.
