I currently have two stick of ram in my system; 1 256mb pc2100 and 1 256mb of pc2700. I have ordered a stick of 512mb pc3200. My machine has 2 slots for ram and will accept up to 2 gb of PC 3200. Would it be better to install the 512mb pc3200 by itself or would it be better to install it with the 256mb pc2700?

Your ram is only going to go as fast as the slowest module installed. You need to buy another stick of pc3200 OR accept running it at 2100 or 2700. This will actually be ok because you decrease the latency too when you underclock ram. If you choose to accept the slower speed with better latency, put the pc3200 in the slot closest to the processor.

512mb PC3200 and 256mb PC2700 will just synchronize to the lower speed of the PC 2700. The bigger RAM should be great especially if you are sharing it with integrated graphics. The slower RAM speed would be noticeable in benchmarks and some games but hardly in internet and office apps. I would go for the 512 +256mb.
