(I bet Hillary and the Dems have no idea why that won't work. Did any of them actually pay attention in economics class?)

There isn't enough money, of course.

But yes, I'm a Democrat and there is enough money, if the filthy rich stop hoarding it for themselves and start helping the common man!

If the entire idea had ever been aired by the right wing talk show guys....who of course wouldn't do that, it may be accepted as a good idea. $5,000 in gov't bonds put aside basically for college expenses would act something like the old GI bill did....folks that would never have had the money were helped through school to the benefit of everyone. It certainly would be something to discuss if there was a venue for long term discussions of plans for the US. As far as 'not paying attention' in economics class, that's a point, but nobody these days is convinced that economics are the same as it was, back in the day'! Not every idea is a good idea, but no idea should be become just more propaganda fodder...as is the case with the talk show guys. Remember....every single thing these guys say is propaganda and disinformation in the service of the reactionaries that have hijacked the GOP. Nothing gets by these guys and nothing gets through to them. Right now their mission is to swift-boat Sen. Clinton and the '$5,000' business is just another example of smear.

Might that help counter bush's (small 'b') tax-cut for the rich? With the way things are going with the $, It'll soon take $1m. But I'd like to know more so I can respond. Like is it a trust-fund for education, or for each child to buy personal military gear to try to finish off the Mess-in-potamia? Where are the '$1 Mils' you're suggesting coming from? That's 200 x as much. Do you recall where Bush's last tax cut went? It's dam sure not helping any kids pay their school tuition.

I would rather have more money going to the war than I would my tax money going to every child born in America , I have 4 kids , I have raised them with no help from the State or Federal Government , None what so ever , I have worked my @ss off , and I have saved every dime I could and I have enough to get my own kids to college , I also managed to buy additional property with cash ( which is cheaper than credit )

Instead of me buying myself a new home , I paid mine off , and have built each child their own house , instead of me buying brand new cars , boats etc , and taking vacations , I put it towards my kids , it is a thing called sacrifice....I much rather have the 30 grand plus per year I send in taxes going to fund the Soldiers than I would to have one cent going to help out those self indulgent idiots who can not do sh*t for their kids but have new homes and cars .I personally think that is disgusting ...and anyone who thinks the one million to every American will work , they must be stupid I slept all through class , and ended up with a GED and I know why it would not work ...

And to the dummies that say the rich hord all the money and need to pay more , the top 1% of the wealthiest pay about 23% of all taxes , the next top 49% pay 70% of all taxes , the bottom 50% of America pay only 3% which often is refunded to them ....You do not nor could you even imagine the taxes Bill Gates has to pay , not counting what he has to match on his employees tax withholdings ...I have to match my employees withholdings plus pay on my money as well , just mine last year was over 30 grand , and I get no refunds ..so there ..
I am all for helping the poor ,and elderly I wish they could fix the system from all the fraud , and help more , but I do not think it is the place of the tax payers to provide people with insurance , and college funds , after all if we pay for all of the personal goals of parents what goal would there be to work towards .. I started out in a d@mn singlewide trailer , and I got tired of being broke , and I got out there and did something about it ....If I have to work to achieve my goals I sure as h*ll am not going to hand it out to others when they can do the same ..

Sure $1 million for every American. . . . . . and ya know the dems just gotta give those poor Chinese people a cool million apiece too . And don't forget those poor radical islamist terrorists , they gotta throw them a bone too . Oh and the Venezuelans too but they'll let Hugo decide who gets what .
And lest we forget our amigos south of the border . Lord knows they got bills to pay. . . the smuggler , the 'mule' , the border agents , the drug cartels , the Mexican Army .

We better start printing more dollars .

Hey, your idea is much better than hers. Real money, put that in t-bills and you could live off of it. But it would probably be paid out a dollar a year for a million years, so it doesn't matter. (and I know that if they gave everyone in the U.S. $1Mill, it would reduce the value of the money supply by that amount given out because of the resulting inflation).

I don't think Hilary was thinking where the money was coming from. I think she just wants the votes. Giving money away never solves the problem. I think that the idea of helping children when they are first born is a great idea. The money should be available with some stipulation.

She already gave up on the $5k per baby plan and replaced it with a $1k/yr match on a 401k which is equally rediculous. How about this, lower taxes including on corporations which in turn will give the added money to their share holders which is everyone who owns a 401k or other investments and get the damn government out of our business

2007-10-24 21:11:56 · answer #10 · answered by Anonymous · 5 1

The government doesn't have a dime to give to anyone. They don't produce or sell anything and therefore can only take money from me and you, so my question is are you and I willing to give money to every baby born? Why should we if its not my/ your baby? That's not the government job and it won't work.
