I pray for wisdom and seek God's guidance through His Word. And I do get a fresh perspective - God is faithful.

I use the above and focus on how the problem could affect each or all of these, then I analyze if the problem needs to be solved, or better off left alone.

I think of what the most unrelated thing I can think of in relation to whatever the problem is, and then try to find the relation between the two subjects. If you can connect them with humor, so much the better. Don't be afraid to laugh at the horror and tragedy. Sometimes that is the only way to find the answer.

A trick I use is to consider a problem from somebody else's point of view. Pick someone you know well enough that you know how they think then put yourself in their shoes.
