Hi there I am a Veterinarian Technician who owns Mini-Lops in Connecticut. I can tell you it is a VERY bad idea to keep your bun outdoors anywhere, especially in a state like CT where we get cold winters and hot summers.
A rabbit kept in an outdoor hutch is a prisoner, not a pet
ALL buns should be members of the family, they should live indoors, and not be forgotten outside. Did you know that indoor buns live on average 3-6 years LONGER than outdoor buns?? It is true!!
If you are considering making a bun a part of your family, check this website out. I adopted all my Lops from this rescue. They also offer LOTS of information on the care of buns! I wish you the best of luck!

Hi there! Well, rabbits don't like the outdoors. But really if you think about it, they are rabbits. And wild rabbits live in burrows and holes while it's snowing. But really its your pet, so i think you should keep it inside.
I have a rabbit, she stays outside most of the day. There is a big hole in the yard where she stays, and it warms her really good. I think it would be fine for it to stay outside. Just get or build some sort of wooden shed. Because you definately need it to be warm, it could die if it gets too cold.
But I'd strongly suggest to mostly keep it in most of the time. Wild rabbits do stay out in the snow in all, but they have more places to go, like burrows and holes and undergrounds. Let it out the whole day, bring it in at night. Perfect. Thats what i do, and my rabbit has no problems! Good luck with your rabbit, and please be safe & careful. Take care & God bless you.

Don't get a rabbit if you are going to keep it outside or in a cage. Rabbits are very social and love people. I have a house rabbit named Big Girl. She is litter trained and lays around just like a cat. It is priceless to see the faces of first time visitors when she jumps on their lap to say hello. A life in a cage or cold back yard would be a living hell for a bunny.

Rabbits are basically outdoor rabbits. As long as they are NOT in the wind, and they have shelter to get into when it gets really cold (make sure they have LOTS of hay when it gets nasty cold).
You should seriously invest in a book called Rabbits for Dummies -- it has a lot of good information in there about keeping your rabbit safe and healthy.
