I always see alot of posts by people saying that certain teams are boring and play trap hockey (Minn- NJ most often) but all teams employ some sort of trap. It occured to me to look up Shots on Goal given up by teams because it seemed to me that Detroit has been having alot of games where they give up less than 20 SOG. Detroit gives up 23.89 shots per game. They were 2nd best. Who can guess who is best so far this season (no peeking)??? Who is worst??
Conversely, who did you think averages the most shots on goal per game and the least per game?

No. Chicago is middle of the pack-15th. They get over 29 SOG per game and give up over 28 SOG per game (13th)

Erica- You are correct. Toronto does give up the most.
All that is left is which team puts the least on net.

- Maybe... Columbus for best?? Definitely Toronto for worst, LOL.
- Most shots-on-goal could be Ottawa or Tampa Bay, maybe.
Least could be Phoenix or Nashville, maybe.
- I'm guessing most shots against could be Atlanta... I wouldn't be surprised if it's Pittsburgh right now with the way our D has been at the start of the season...
ADD: San Jose has the least shots given up? Really? Yaaay!
Am I close for anything here? Are LITY and I right about Ottawa being the most shots for?
WAIT... is Toronto the team with the most against? I just remembered, the Pens had FIFTY shots (maybe a couple over that) against them.

I know San Jose has allowed the least per game because I heard that the other night.
I know Ottawa edges Toronto for most shots for.
Bob, the way you make that last remark makes me wonder if it's Chicago.....but they took 40 shots against Dallas

I dont mind if a team uses the trap to limit some mobility, but when there is absolutely no hockey being played and its dump and chase, squeeze, dump and chase, squeeze it can get quite boring.

I would say fewest shots allowed is either San Jose or Minnesota, and fewest shots taken is Vancouver.
