I sure hope so. It is getting rather hard to justify a $7000+ snowmobile just sitting there in the shed not getting any useage out of it.

Latest long-range forecasts I've seen from National Weather Service, Accu-Weather, and Weather Channel all seem to point to above average temps for just about everywhere except the Northwest US and Northern Intermountain Region. Long-Range meaning Dec-Feb. I didn't buy an almanac this year, so I have no idea what that says.

Here's my gut feeling though. The Northeast is going to get spanked with an early season storm...maybe as early as mid-December and then it's going to get freakin' cold. This autumn has had record heat and the acorn crop is insane. I still have tomato blossoms on my vines not to mention fruit, and I live in Northeasten PA. Mother nature only allows this sort of thing to happen so the animals can fatten up for a hard winter. Last time this happened was 1982..which I remember slightly. We had a crazy winter that year and winter lasted until April that year if I remember correctly. We were in school til late June making up snow days.

I can't predict the rest of the USA...if the same signs can be found in the Rockies, then I would bet on the same thing happening there too.

We also have had a lack of hurricanes this year...big ones anyway, so my bet is we're gonna have some nasty Nor'easters too.

BTW...it's supposed to hit 31F on Sunday morning. Not only is it going to come hard...it's gonna hit fast. We usually have a few weeks of 50's followed by a few weeks of 40s to get ready for winter. We're going from 67F on Saturday afternoon to 31F on Sunday at 5am. I wouldn't doubt a snowflake or two left over from this low pressure hanging around.

That's my $0.02
