yes.
kids are curious. they like to break rules.
the fact that drugs (including alcohol) are kept away from them but have short-term positive effects make them crave them at this age. (the forbidden fruit)
kids whose parents are more open tend to have less abuse issues with substances.
I knew a man who has a masters in psych and he allowed his teenage daughters to drink. but told them he didn't want to use other drugs and explained why. they listened and did as he said.
I never used drugs and my mother was very honest with me and explained why things were harmful- she didn't just tell me 'no, don't do it'.
I was allowed to drink at home and experimented with alcohol. I never drank a lot because it wasn't a big deal after the first time or two. The excitement and temptation was gone

I think when you're growing up you expierment. I think trying drugs is a normal part of growing up. You would be surprised who has tried drugs and who got hooked on drugs. I am a Senior in High School and I can honestly say about 95% of my Senior class has tried a drug. I live in a small town but the other towns around my town are worst.

Yes: because it seems like most teens use at least some drugs to some degree. As much as people use this phrase in a mocking manner, it really is more or less true that "Everyone is doing it".
Of course it's not literally EVERYONE. but it's enough people that saying "everyone is doing it" is a reasonable exaggeration.

Sadly, I do think it is for the general population. For most teens, most of whom have insecurities or problems, drugs (weed and tobacco, most commonly) seem like a "cool" way to forget them. I would say at least 75% of teens experiment with drugs. however, there are many who don't, but they definitely aren't the majority, and high school is much, much harder for them.
Hope I helped!

Absolutely NOT! It is harder to face real life headon and straight, than to not even know what is passing you by. I think that normal is growing up untainted, thinking for yourself, and doing for yourself and owning any consequences. Giving yourself an honest chance to give it your BEST SHOT, straight.

Nope. Never tried 'em. Never wanted to. Maybe I just wasn't "normal" though. Losing control like that never appealed to me. I never wanted any chemical to have that much control over me.
