Do you remember the frenzy when they came out? I remember that every little girl just had to have one. I still have mine.

I still have two of them.
I remember being in the local Toys R Us looking for one (I must of been around 6yrs old. There were so many people looking for them, it was mad. Then I spotted one hidden amongst boxes and other crap laying all over. I picked it up right before this woman got it...even then I was sure she was going to grab it from me! I yelled, "MOM I got one!!" The woman backed off, lol.
It was a bald infant one. Her head got dirty from play and I attempted to clean her with finger nail polish remover and she lost an eye!

Yes! I remember!
They were like two hundred dollars and the line was around the corner. Some kids had like 3 or 4.
I didn't get one. :~(
I got a "flower patch kid" and a "Terro patch kid" which was from Hawaii.
The money my parents spent on those could have been spent on a real "cabbage patch kid" (after the price went back to normal of course)
I still want one, and I'm grown. Lol!!

I didn't like them at all (I was a tomboy). Instead of getting me the roller skates I wanted for Christmas, she forced one of those ugly things on me and insisted that I keep it on my bed to "make my room look like a girl lived there". It was HORRID, and all my friends (guys) made fun of me.

I hate cabbage patch kids to this day!

Awww! I had two of them...right after the frenzy, it was possible to walk in the store and not get trampled...that's when my mom bought me a blonde one and a redhead yarn haired one....
I should have kept them, they'd been worth lots of money eventually...but we put them in storage and someone set fire to the storage facility and, oh well....

I was really into the stickers. I would have my note book covered with cabbage patch kids...wow, that brings back a LOT of memories. Thanks for keeping the memory alive!

Who could forget them?? LOL,,,still have the one my mom (now deceased) bought for my daughter.

But I also recall all the problems from idiots 'claiming' them as children for government benefits and on tax returns..

Goes to show,,,you never can tell....

When my Niece was born in Dec of 1983, I thought she looked like one!. When I said this to my sister-in-law,she was truly pissed! (lol). I bought a girl and a boy for my daughter anyway!. ("Screw my sister-in-law!).

Yes, I remember it well. It was insane. The cost to buy them became astronomical too.
