I'd probably say either of the Velvet Underground's First two albums, The Velvet Underground & Nico or White Light/White Heat because both annihilated musical conventions and successfully fused art and rock better than anything before it.

Edit to add: I also like the first answer that throws London Calling and Ramones in there, I'd say they're definitely candidates.

If you mean the most influential rock album ever: Sgt. Pepper
If you mean the most perfect rock album ever: Grace by Jeff Buckley

However, IMO "Tea for The Tillerman" by Cat Stevens is the most perfect album ever, but it's folk not rock.

Ugh.

Maybe it's Beatle's Sgt. Pepper. Or maybe the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds. Or even Hendrix's Are You Experienced? Possibly Fleetwood Mac's Rumours? Could it be Rolling Stones' Exile on Main St? London Calling by the Clash? Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin? Ramones by Ramones? Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd?

No one knows(!!!!), although the most common answer is the first one I listed, not just for its music, but for innovation, influence, impact, etc.

I'll say either Machine Head by Deep Purple, or Led Zeppelin IV by, of course, Led Zeppelin.
