Carbon compounds are compounds of carbon with other elements. In your case, the compounds are fats and carbohydrates (starches and sugars). The other elements are hydrogen and oxygen. Starches are digested to simple sugars like glucose. Glucose is metabolized to aceticacid. Aceticacid is either burned to carbon dioxide and water for energy or built up into fat for storage. Eating starch and sugar makes people fat. Fats in the diet are also digested to glycerol and fatty acids. These are metabolized to acetic acid. Losing weight makes people burn fat.
