why not have a "real talk"?like you sit and talk about it over food if possible. maybe, your friend id having a family problem that he can't share with you. my friend too is like that.i even get a "SHUT UP!" and a "WHAT???!" in an angry mood. then she'll say,"sorry i'm just tired". then after that, we're okay again. then the next morning NO. so i just try to understand my friend to the best i can. give your friend space so he can reflect about things. do not rush him. tell him that you're giving him time to think over stuffs and that you'll wait for him till he recovers. just pray for him and hope for the best. gudluck.^_^
oh wait, did you ever consider that he may have a crush on you?maybe that's it. and he's just confuse or shy to tell you about it. maybe he's avoiding you bec he thinks that avoiding you may help him forgets you(cuz what if he doesn't like your friendship to go into waste/ what if he knew you like someone else, so he decided to avoid you bec it's hurting him too.)think it over!^_^

It sounds like this best freind is not so much of a best freind. He seems to be playing with your feelings and you don't do that to best freinds. I say leave your best freind alone for a while and then see what the reaction is. If he tries to come back talking to you then ask him in all earnesty - Whats up, I know you are avoiding me, tell me why? If he does not seem honest with you then ditch him and find a new best freind.
Sometimes this can be a sign that you should move on.

Either he is trying to play it cool or he is a jerk because of the avoidance. Play it out a little more and if he keeps avoiding you when he is not with his friends then maybe he is not a good friend after all.

Avoid him you dont need to be friend with someone who does that to you especially if its hurting your feelings

if your around him when hes aound his friends that probely means he doesnt want to get embarresed for having a girl thats a friend
