Okay, the story is based off of a Christmas song, Nestor the long-eared Christmas donkey. The character is mainly like a first Christmas Rudolf with his friends making fun of him and stuff.
Mary and Joseph pick him to take them to Bethlehem. My story is mainly an adventure/Christmas story. What are some things I can add in (Character ideas, places events)? I kind of want it to have the classic feel of Rankin/Bass specials (Note: This was in fact a Rankin/Bass special) So my questions for the public are:

1:Should I stick with the original Rankin/Bass storyline? and

2: What are some events/characters/ect. I can add in?

you can have him talk to other animals about the light in the sky, the angels, and then the shepherds.

How about going door to door looking for a place to stay, then watching the baby jesus being born in the stable.

If you are going to be historically accurate, then it will not be a "stable" like a barn, but a cave.

In addition, the wise men probably did not make it that night. Herod killed the children that were 2 years or younger. So, it is likely that they arrived a year or so after the birth of Jesus.
