My mom thinks she can make me pay rent because i live there. can she make me pay rent? please cite your sources so I CAN REFER TO THEM ALSO.

unless u are emancipated or over 18 then u have no entiltelment to any money that u earn or things that u acquire so if some1 has parents that make them pay rent they should just look at it as look at the rest that i get to keep

Well, do you help around the house? Something seems to tell me there was a huge fight about you not pulling your weight in the house. Pick up on the house chores, and don't ask for anything you don't need. 3 more years and you can pay rent to someone else. If you have a job, offer to pitch in here and there. I'm not sure if she can force you to pay rent yet. At age 16 you can legally have a job though, so the laws might change in a year or so for you.

Do you earn money? If so, it's not a bad idea to make a small contribution to the home finances. If not, how can you anyway? If your mom wants money, she shuold have got a lodger rather than choose to have a child - which is HER responsibility.

No she can't unless you're emancipated. She is responsible for supporting you until then or you turn 18. You didn't say where you live, but that's the law in every state.
