On many bikes, the main fuse is not in the panel.
It is either an in-line holder on the main line (heavy red wire) or is physically near the starter solenoid.
I have never seen a fusible link used on a motorcycle.

Not familiar with this bike but sometimes around the battery compartment is a large main fuse or even fuse wire held between 2 screws - I'd suggest you get a workshop manual like a Haynes for your model/year bike and check it out as they usually have a troubleshooting and electrical section.

Er.

I don't have a manual with me, but on some bikes they have a fuse panel and by the battery they have a main fuse which is usually a 30 amp. Sometimes they can be on the starter solenoid. I would look for a main fuse there.

Firecracker gave a good answer.
Most of the newer bikes have the main fuse on the starter solenoid.
It could be covered, so as not to be immediately visible.

You didn't say what the socket made contact with. Does the battery power anything? Lights, horn, starter? NO? Then disconnect and check the battery cables. Any evidence of a melted connector or wire? Any spark to the plugs? You really need to be more descriptive to get serious advice.
