There should be an Adult Education Center in your town somewhere, they will give you an assessment test to find out if you need classes, and then you can take them for free if you do. They also have study books at most bookstores, they'd be in the reference section with the ACT and SAT books.

Everyone's different but I didn't think it was very difficult at all.

Your local library should have a book telling you what to expect, sample questions, etc.
