Why don't you add 'if you knew your son was innocent of a murder he was being accused of would you still be Pro death penalty?' Might make them think a little harder.

The fear of death and the unknown thereafter is a worse punishment than death itself, however it is not a recognized punishment in its own right as death is. Also, due to long incarceration prior the sentence being carried out may rob the inmates of this fear, and thus the death penalty loses its punishing effect. In addition, there is a very clear ending in sight, known to the inmate.
A life sentence is punishment forcing an individual to vegetate with no clear end (natural death) in sight, however it is often perceived that this punishment, although crueler than death, is not enough to compensate the crime. However, a life sentence over the death penalty is that it is reversible. Not that anyone would consider doing so, of course, but it has its advantages with those that have been wrongfully sentenced.
Because of this I am against the death penalty.
I know that this does not answer the question of why I am for it, but it was too good an opportunity to pass to express my point of view.

Many people support the death penalty because of concerns about brutal criminals being released into their communities. However, you don't have to condone brutal crimes or want the criminals who commit them to avoid a harsh punishment to ask whether the death penalty prevents or even reduces crime and whether it risks killing innocent people. Lots of people are beginning to ask about these things.
124 people on death rows have been released with proof that they were wrongfully convicted. DNA is available in less than 10% of all homicides and isn’t a guarantee we won’t execute innocent people.
The death penalty doesn't prevent others from committing murder. No reputable study shows the death penalty to be a deterrent. To be a deterrent a punishment must be sure and swift. The death penalty is neither. Homicide rates are higher in states and regions that have it than in states that don’t.
We have a good alternative. Life without parole is now on the books in 48 states. It means what it says. It is sure and swift and rarely appealed. Life without parole is less expensive than the death penalty.
The death penalty costs much more than life in prison, mostly because of the legal process which is supposed to prevent executions of innocent people.
The death penalty isn't reserved for the worst crimes, but for defendants with the worst lawyers. It doesn't apply to people with money. When is the last time a wealthy person was on death row, let alone executed?
The death penalty doesn't necessarily help families of murder victims. Murder victim family members across the country argue that the drawn-out death penalty process is painful for them and that life without parole is an appropriate alternative.
Problems with speeding up the process. Over 50 of the innocent people released from death row had already served over a decade. If the process is speeded up we are sure to execute an innocent person.

We kill things that are harmful. Animals, pests, even microbes, for the greater good. Murderers are no different. For those that say they are 'human', I beg to differ. Humanity, and humane have the same root...human. So, murderers , having forsaken humanity with their inhumane acts are no longer human, and as such should be eliminated from the society permanently.
What do you think about that ?
(I already know, given the fact that anybody who posted FOR was given a 'thumbs down' no matter how logical their argument--nothing like being impartial, eh ?)
oooh ! I got a thumbs down...imagine that ?
Since when do WE have to be responsible for all of humanity ? Why can't people be responsible for themselves ? Do away with legal challenges, utilize DNA in ALL cases and expedite the process. The innocence project says that 1% of inmates truly are innocent...well if you DNA everybody that number will go way down as well. Let me ask you this...would you rather have another dead child or an innocent man put to death ? 'Innocence' is subjective. You don't get on death row by being a model citizen gone wrong...if you did, then chances are you did it. If not a model citizen, how many crimes have they committed and not gotten caught ? I say, morally bankrupt, then close their account. Harsh ? You bet. Then we can pump the money into things that matter like health care, poverty, AIDS, etc. instead of wasting it on the chaff of society.
How do you like me now ???

I am not. You cannot EVER justify killing a human being by KILLING A HUMAN BEING. How can you make things better by doing exactly what you are condemning?
What goes around comes around indeed......If you truly believe this, and take joy in killing someone even if it isnt you that is doin the injecting or flipping the switch, well just remember, what goes around comes around. That cycle wont end JUST BECAUSE the criminal was killed, because technically all you are doing, is putting yourself in it.

Because IT IS still a matter of a tooth for a tooth. A death for a death. I have seen too many parents, relations, lose their innocent ones to monsters, at times in the most horrific way.
I do not condone the excuse for people who have become monsters, and who take the lives of others.
I believe that what they have chosen to be, what they have become for whatever reason, should not be neglected of capital punishment.
I think of that little boy who was decapitated by some monster - the son of the man, who now runs a show called "America's Most Wanted" and I can not think of forgiveness or compassion given to the little boy's killer.
There are people in our society who will never improve, or show remorse for what they've done, and undone for the victims' families.
These are sociopath, who I do not belief would even feel the
death judged they should suffer, in return for their heinous crimes.
Then why feed them, offer them shelter for years to a lifetime in prison, when they can adjust to wherever they are . . and yet the families they have seriously disturbed forever do on with their pain and never truly know of Biblical justice?

I am pro-killing killers because it saves money, oh wait it doesn't. I am pro-killing killers because it deters others, oh wait it doesn't. I am pro-killing killers because it is the only way to show our respect for life, oh wait it doesn't. I am pro-killing killers because it is what Jesus would do, oh wait he wouldn't. I am pro-killing killers because it we can have perfect knowledge of a crime, oh wait we can't. I am pro-killing killers because it is the only fair treatment, oh wait it is prejudice towards males and ethnic minorities. I am pro-killing killers because it is what every other advanced nation does, oh wait we are the only major western country that stills has this policy. I guess I am anti-murdering murders.

Anyone who can murder another human without remorse, especially those who kill innocent children are sick and will more than likely do it again given the chance, besides how safe is it really having all these evil murdering psycho's just hanging out behind bars and guards, prisons are overloaded and having to build more, maybe in your neck of the woods, some do escape ya know, I say anyone who is without a doubt guilty of murder, of more than one person, killing pregnant mothers, mothers killing children, child molesters and murderers, should most certainly get death, why should they deserve life, they didn't give their victims a chance.
