To chemically alter someone's behavior without consent or knowledge is not very ethical.

In fact, many people around the world voluntarily use drugs to conform and socialize in a safe accepted manner: The after-work drink or cocktail.

No, but many parents and doctors feel it is and demonstrate this rather presumptuous and alarming notion by prescribing drugs and turning kids into zombies. Probably 99 percent of kids diagnosed with ADD/ADHD are merely hyperactive, bored kids who don't get outside and play enough so the powers that be drug 'em up to make them easier to handle. A generation growing up drugged; I wonder what the consequences of all these drugs will be when they become adults...

that depends on what societal standard you are talking about.


It is ethical to change a serial killer or child rapist - especially with a pill, as opposed to surgery ? i think so.


If you mean forcing introverts to be extroverted - no way.

It's not ethical but its legal. Note the number of children, teens and adults prescribed psychotropics these days.

but we should give them medicine to make them healthy enough to make their own choices if they are ill. after that they can choose to stop taking drugs if they please
