When its non-erect it seems to pull back just fine but when it IS erect it hurts slightly to pull it over the head, is there a way to fix this? im still young (14) and im not sure if this is normal

And on another note, may i ask what the average size of a penis is at my age?

Sounds normal given your age, the foreskin is usually a bit tight in teenage guys. It should be fairly easy to fix, just keep practising pulling it over the head when erect (in the shower/bath is best) and in time it should become more comfortable and pull back more easily. If you don't notice a difference in a few weeks then you can use a cream (active ingredient betamethasone) on it as well which works in almost all cases. You don't need circumcision or anything. Good luck.

I dunno the average size at age 14 but seeing as the average for an adult male is 5-6 I would say it's probably a bit less than that.

At your age, it's fairly common for the foreskin to be a little difficult to pull back. That's because it hasn't pulled back before. I went through it, too, and now it's perfect. When you shower, pull the foreskin back the most you can and wash under it (should only take you very few seconds). This will encourage the foreskin to stretch and separate from the head. It sounds like it's improving, though. E-mail me from my profile if you have any other questions.

Work on that and it should all be good in the end. Circumcision wouldn't help you with the masturbation aspect, since studies have found that circumcision makes the penis less sensitive and makes masturbating more difficult.

That may be part of the reasons why circumcision has become a lot less popular, among other risks.

As for your size, the average for an adult is 6 inches erect, but you're not an adult yet. It really depends how far along in puberty you are. I wouldn't worry about it. My guess is that it's around 4 to 8 inches erect, and that's perfectly fine.

Like you said, you are still young, so its possible that your not developed fully yet to allow full retraction of your foreskin when erect.
The fact it pulls back easily when not erect is good news, it means there's no medical defect and you wont need a circumcision, and you can also clean it properly.
When you're erect, gently try to pull it back more and more each day, but dont apply too much pressure to cause pain.
The average penis size shouldnt matter to a 14-year-old! But as you asked, its around about 5in. But thats an average - meaning there are people with more and people with less.

So you can pull the skin down past your head when heard? Then you probably have a frenulum breve. Look it up and make sure that is what you have. Just try loosening it up everyday. Don't make it hurt or you will make it worse. So never force it. Get a full erection, then pull the skin back as far as you can WITHOUT pain then hold it there for 5 MINUTES then do that about three times a day. -Connor

sounds fine. You DO NOT need to be circumcised. Mine used to be a bit tight when i was you age (im 25 now). as long as you can pull it back you are fine. It will loosen up with time as well.
the size will vary with each guy. Mine kept growing till i was in my early 20's. just dont listen when people tell you that the uncut guy is dirty. uncut rules.

It sounds as if it could be paraphimosis, but the important thing to do is see a doctor and get a proper diagnosis and treatment. I strongly advise you against using any 'home' or 'do-it-yourself' remedies you may read about on the net as these could do more harm than good. It may not be a serious problem, you may not have to be circumcised , but do see a doctor for professional advice.

Why circumcision is a biomedical imperative for the 21(st) century.

School of Medical Sciences and Bosch Institute, Building F13, The
University of Sydney, Sydney, New South Wales 2006, Australia.

Circumcision of males represents a surgical "vaccine" against a wide
variety of infections, adverse medical conditions and potentially
fatal diseases over their lifetime, and also protects their sexual
partners. In experienced hands, this common, inexpensive procedure is
very safe, can be pain-free and can be performed at any age. The
benefits vastly outweigh risks. The enormous public health benefits
include protection from urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted
HIV, HPV, syphilis and chancroid, penile and prostate cancer,
phimosis, thrush, and inflammatory dermatoses. In women circumcision
of the male partner provides substantial protection from cervical
cancer and chlamydia. Circumcision has socio-sexual benefits and
reduces sexual problems with age. It has no adverse effect on penile
sensitivity, function, or sensation during sexual arousal. Most women
prefer the circumcised penis for appearance, hygiene and sex. Given
the convincing epidemiological evidence and biological support,
routine circumcision should be highly recommended by all health
professionals.
