Alright, sweetheart.

I know it's exciting, and I'm sure you've been told before, but you've just got to let your body do what it's going to do. Go with the flow, if you'll excuse the pun. Keep something with you, a pad or a tampon or whatever you'd like to use, and let it happen when it's going to happen. You'll get it, quite frankly, when you're body is darn right ready to get it. Don't stress.

Hi, I know this can be stressful, but DON'T rush it! Trust me when I say you are not missing out on anything. I have a 12.5 year old sister who started spotting off and on for several months before her period starting coming regularly every month at 11. Every girl/woman's body is different so it is hard to say. I was 10.5 when I started getting my cycle. I would feel pain (cramps) in my stomach not knowing what it was and then started spotting lightly for the first couple of months. But I knew it was coming on because my breast would feel tender or I would have breakouts! Eww! I started developing EVERYWHERE when I was 10. My first day is the worst. I can't do anything, but stay in the bed. Just keep some HEAVY pads with you at all times and a pair of extra (DARK) pants just in case. You seem to be close... Also, Midol for your cramps. That worked very well for me. Soaking in the bathtub, exercising and laying on your stomach helps relieve the cramps!

it sounds like it's not too far away. maybe a couple days. all i got to say is, be prepared.
always carry pads/tampons with you, especially for the first two years because your period will be irregular and it will come at the most random, inconvenient times.

a couple months after i got my period for the first time, it came during my first period class, but there was nothing i could do about it! my friends didn't have any "supplies", i didn't have any "supplies", and you can never rely on the things in the bathroom to be stocked. so i, inevittably (sp) got a stain on my jeans, but it was cool 'cause i had a sweater to wear around my waist. only problem was... drama tryouts were after school. which involved melodramatic pantoming, which involved everyone seeing the stain on my jeans. it was the most embarassing day of my life!
so the moral of the story is... BE PREPARED!
even now, it might not even come for another couple of days, or weeks, w/e, carry some "supplies" with you, just in case.

& another thing, i see on some of the other answers people are saying that their first couple of months were just spotty. not always true. my first period was the heaviest one i have ever had, so be ready for anything.

by the sound of it not long, but in case those pains are not related get mum to take you to Doc OK. Girls can start their menses any time from 8 and 3/4's until 17 or even older. It varies but is all quite a normal thing so don't fret over it, nature will do things in it's own way, but as I say get the pains checked just to be on the safe side.

Why don't you ask your mother dear?
You usually get it ever 15 to 24 days so maybe roughly a month or alittle under depending on your body and it can last anywhere from 3 ot 5 days. Some last longer. And cramps aren't fun.Get some Midol or pamperin and since you're so young get sanitary napkins(Pads)instead of tampons and replace them ever 4 ot 6 hours. And talk to your mother or guardian or a doctor if you can't do that.

before i got mine when i was about 13 & i had this horrible stomach ache. it just kind of came. it wasn't a lot though. when you first get it, you won't get much. just always keep a pad on hand in case it comes. when it does, do not stress out or worry. it won't get all over your pants the first time. if you are that worried, wear a panty liner everyday. it sounds like yours should be coming soon. if these cramps keep coming back, just use a heating pad & it'll make them better. all you can do is wait & see when it comes. i hope it works out for you.

if i were you i would wear a panty liner everyday and carry enough pads for a day. you could be getting it soon. don't ask when you'll get it because no one will ever know that all they can tell you is what they think. you're body will tell you and it will come. i didn't get any cramps. so i suggest getting panyliners and wearing them. the worst case scenario is it comes while you're in school and you're not prepared.

Have fun hun, your going to have those cramps and moodiness for the rest of your child bearing years, I was your age when i first got my period. What sucked about it the first 6 months of getting the period i was so inregular, i had to wear a light days pad almost everyday, just so i didn't have any accidents. I do advise that if you think your going to get it soon, wear a light day pad just in case it starts in class.

Sorry, I went through a phase identical to this one and I don't think that you are going to get your period for about half a year to a year because I used to convince myself I was starting when I really wasn't. Those "cramps" aren't real you make them up in your mind. I hope it comes soon if you want it to, but it probably wont :(.

Carry around tampons or pads from now on, just in case it happens at school or away from home. You are due any time now. I wouldn't be shocked if it happened within days, but maybe up to a few more months. Take ibuprofen for cramps, but ask your mom first.
