I'm beginning to think it is. Money, what does it bring? Look at all sides not just one. With money comes opportunity, other ways to meet people. And the other side of that, is another way to make enemies. Is money really a necessity? I think not? Money brings greed, and damnation. Point, period, the end.

it's got it's good and bad sides, like everything else. The problem is people, just like the argument, guns don't kill people, people do. Well, money does not cause greed, man does. Money is a necessity, even at that, get rid of money, no matter what you replace it with, mankind will hoard it, kill for it, sell their soul for it. Just like power, you take any career, give a man the smallest amount of power and in time it will go straight to his head and he'll will abuse it. Take a Judge for instance, their kids/families are the ultimate in perfection, ever heard of their kid doing time, getting in the papers?, and the power given to the cop who contacts the judge instead of treating the kid like you or i, you don't think he's looking for a payoff. Or bad cops, ever heard of them, doing time, no they get early retirement, cause the brass doesn't want to look bad, it's greed and power and it all comes down to a pay off in the end, we just call it promotion, pension. How about these drunken, drugged up singer and stars lately, we're asked to feel sorry for them cause their all stress out because of all the fame and money. And the "badder" they get the more money they make. When was the last time Joe Blow on the corner got pulled over drunk/drugged up, and did a whole day in jail cause he decided to get rehab. Then there's athlete's, god, we could go on and on. It's mankind, lets stop blaming money, fame, power, laws, guns, booze, drugs, etc. This is mankind. Yes, money is important, the question is, how important, and how much does one NEED to live on.

No. Money is NOT the root of all evil and it does not BRING ON the desire for more. The desire is always there...the want to have, the greed...it has ALWAYS been there.

The WANT OF money (or power) is the root of evil.

1Timothy 6:10
"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

THE LOVE of money (greed), above all things, is the root os evil. Well, one of the roots anyway. The other 2 are power and control.

Suze Oman says "people first, then money. otherwise money is the most important thing we need for food, clothing and shelter." I mostly agree. I also mostly agree with Michael Tsarion on the origins of evil: http://www.taroscopes.com/webstream/originsofevil_startpage.html

No, but the "love" of money is. When greed and deception, lies, cheating, and fraud enter, money becomes evil. A life lived solely in the pursuit of wealth is wasted. Nothing, of itself, is inherently bad; it's what we do with it.

money may not be everything, but for most people, it is way ahead of whatever comes in second. Try living completely without it and see how far you get. If you want to try that, send me all of yours.
