And if it's such a racist policy, why does it apply to women as well?

Obviously to level the playing field for all Americans, when some Americans refused to treat everybody equally.

However, it has led to reverse discrimination as well. Where people who were not quite qualified were hired or promoted over more qualified people.

End result, afirmative action was needed at first, but not so sure anymore. The feds are good at cracking down on those who do not comply with equal rights.

"Why was Affirmative action created?
And if it's such a racist policy, why does it apply to women as well?"

It's not just a racist policy, it's sexist as well. Anways, it was first implemented federally by the Nixon administration to speed up the progress of blacks and women after the civil rights movement. It was meant to be an equalizer that cancels out potential lack of opportunity.

I personally find it morally objectionable in its current practice. Now, even affluent underrepresented minorities get advantages. A black or Hispanic kid from a prestigious private school should get advantages over a white or Asian kid from a public school during college admissions? Give me a break. Why should a woman get advantages over an equally qualified man just because she wants to study engineering, a field with few women? It seems to be pointless social engineering now.

If you really want a non-racist and non-sexist system that still helps those in need.... scrap affirmative action. Don't judge by sex or race, instead use economic factors.

you have the precise oppisite of the certainty. Affirmative action substitute into created via racists. Racism substitute into around lots longer. If a business enterprise won't hire a black guy that leads to a opposed artwork environment while they're compelled. this is why it is going to not exist, real action is boycotting not asserting a pores and skin coloration is a disability like Down's syndrome.

It was created to change the culture at the time when someone who was qualified would have their resume just thrown in the thrash because of the color of their skin. It applies to women because of the unequal wages, and women are actually the majority.

It was a good piece of legislation at the time it was passed!
It brought equality to the workplace!
Which was the right thing to do!
It has done it's job now and is having negative effects, like reverse discrimination?
The only person that did not get help from this legislation was a white male!
It's time now to throw it out, but like a lot of other out dated laws they won't!
Al and Jessie would get a lot of air time on the talk shows if they tried?

Affirmative action rests on the firm ethical and philosphical foundation that two wrongs make a right.

It aplies to women because it is also a sexist policy, as well as a racist one.
