They are the two greatest teams. Only other team that even challenges is the 72 Dolphins with their schedule against opponent's with a combined record of .396. lol

The 85 Bears were one year wonders while the 49ers dominated the 80's. The Ravens of a few years ago led by Ray Lewis allowed over the season less points then the 85 Bears. The Tampa Bay team that won the Superbowl has a great claim that they are the greatest one year Defense. The Steal Curtain Defense did it over a decade. The NFL has seen better defenses over it's history then the 85 Bears. They are the most over rated team in the history of the NFL.

I'd have to go with the 49ers .
I saw that 85 Bears defense lose to the Dolphins 28 to 0.
Montana would have picked them apart worse than Marino .
Correction : They lost to the Dolphins 38 to 24 now thats a lot of points to give up for the greatest defense of all time .

The Bears win. The 1985-86 Bears defense was the best ever. Montana, Rice, Brady, Manning, Harrison, Moss wouldn't have been able to score on the 85-86 Bears.
Having said that, 2007-08 Patriots would be able to stop Jim McMahon cold. If the Patriots beat the Colts on Nov 4 as expected, they should go 19-0 and win their 4th S-Bowl ring.
If that happens, the Patriots will go down as the best NFL team ever and their won't be anything that anybody will be able to say or do to change it.

I think Sweetness would have at least scored a touchdown. That was so wrong what they did to him. I think the Bears defense would have stopped the 49ers. It would have been 17-10 the Bears.
