Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 Professional.
My favorite operating systems are Mac OS X and Windows XP Professional (NOT Home Edition, that one sucks).
The best operating system for companies is probably Windows XP Professional for stability and highly developed network features. I had a laptop with 512MB of RAM and Windows XP Home Edition and it crashed considerably. I wiped the hard drive and installed XP Pro and for months it hasn't frozen at all nor has it crashed.

Depends on for what purpose.
Cisco owns networking
Apple (Unix based os) owns digital imaging and graphic work
Microsoft owns the desktop and office productivity
Unix owns internet servers
There are many other classifications these are just a few. And there are several subclasses that you could break out and make some distinctions .
