i have this rash in my vaginal area, and i dont know what its from. i had my period a few days ago and i wore pantyliners, which is when it started irritating. but now its inflamed and my periods been over for days. its reddish and bumpy, and itches a lot. it doesn't really burn anymore. symptoms seem like herpes but thats really not likely considering i havn't had sexual activity in a very very long time. i had sex once, and that was a year ago.. so i dont know im assuming its a yeast infection? i dont have a gynacologist so im not sure what i can really do right now..

Herpes is usually painful. It could be a herpes infection, but it's more likely a yeast infection. Wearing pantyliners can cause yeast infections pretty easily because they don't breathe like normal underwear.
Get an over the counter yeast infection treatment at the drugstore. I recommend a 7-day treatment because the 1-day ones can really irritate you, especially if you already have some irritation. If the itching is really bothering you, you can get a tube of Vagisil and use that until the infection clears up. Wear cotton underwear and skirts or dresses as much as you can until you feel better.
If the infection doesn't go away within the amount of time stated on the yeast infection treatment packaging, make an appointment with your regular doctor. It doesn't have to be a gyn. You might need a prescription.

If it was a yeast infection, it would have a cottage cheese kind of discharge and a odor. If the patiliners were scented it could be a simple form of dermatitis.{ an allergic reaction from something you were in contact with} If you used a new product : Fabric softener, soap, patiliners, pretty much anything. On the flip side, herpes only takes 1 time to get. you could have been exposed years ago and not get a break out till now. Also in most area of the U.S. (hopefully you live here) there are free to minimum fee women's clinics. You should definitely get it checked. You don't want to cause permanent damage to your insides or give some thing to someone. In the mean while Monastat over the counter will help for now.

Does it hurt when you urinate? Do you have any white cottage cheese-like discharge? Those are some of the symptoms of a yeast infection, in addition to itching and burning.
If you have contracted herpes when you last had sexual activity, it may be another outbreak because the virus remains in your body once you've got it. It might be a good idea to get tested for it if you're concerned that it is herpes.
If the symptoms go away after a few days of no pantyliner use, then you may just be allergic to your pantyliners.
However, I'm not a doctor, so I think it'd be better if you consulted one before coming to any conclusions.

Google a picture of herpes and compare your symptoms. Not likely though, probably a yeast infection, irritation from laundry soap or panty liner, or vaginal infection. Try a yeast infection med. If it doesn't go away within a few days, go to a clinic or doctor.

YOu don't get yeast infections only from sex but also when your immune system is weak (I don't mean AIDS) because you're under stress etc. Some "germs" can stay dormant a very long time (some STD's also), so the only way is to go to a doctor to make a smear-test.
You don't have a gynaecologyst? Are you that young? If you had sex with a condom, you shouldn't have one of the "bad" infections. I think it's time to find a gynaecologyst. Tell your mom and she'll go with you. I'm serious.
