I have been working for this company for almost 2 years and haven't had a raise. they said that they would give me one after the 90 days probationary period. 2 years go by and i'm not making any more money than i was when i was hired. No benefits, no insurance, no 401K, nothing. Could they get in trouble by the law for not giving me a raise? i am struggling finacially and they just don't get it. i have to take out draws and such, so then my paychecks are small. what should i do besides look for another job?

They aren't required to give you a raise or benefits, but usually they need to offer some sort of health care.
Check the employee handbook, and then check the employment office for your state to see if there are any special rules for your industry.
Talk with the HR dept and discuss what you were promised. Remember that YOUR financial problems are not THEIR responsibility or concern. Their only concern is the law and their condition of their company.

Sit down with your boss and have a frank discussion. Certainly after 2 years you should be eligible for some more pay than you were hired at. Depending on the outcome of the discussion you will have a clearer picture of what needs to be done. Either they will be able to give you a raise of some sort, or I suggest you start looking elsewhere.

I suspect they didn't actually promise you a raise after 90-day probabtinoary period. They promise to performance review or evaluation which usually means a raise.

You should sit down with your boss and discuss this. Be prepared to tell him how you have taken on more responsibility and how you exceed standard work requirements -- things that show you are valuable to the company. Don't bother telling him you are in financial distress.

I would start looking for a new job. Even if the gave you raise when you give your notice, you can get laid off 2 weeks later when you declined your new job offer. That's exactly what happened to me 40 years ago, I gave my notice, they offered me a 5,000 raise then got laid off 2 weeks later with no job.

Get a job elsewhere with better pay but give your current job the option of matching the new offer to keep you.

There is no law that requires raises. Have you talked to your supervisor?
