I would like to remote desktop my computer through the internet but I don't know where I can find my public ip address

You can see your public IP just visit

http://whatismyip.com
The read out is your current public IP

It may change sometimes, all depends on what your ISP provides and if they rotate them often. Some do some don't some actually assign you a "fixed one".

but odds are your on a dynamic ip address so this will change all the time. also dont forget to enable remote desktop on the recipient computer and it has to be password protected, and allow access through any firewalls and routers

if you are behind a router you can logon to it and check the public ip there. 192.168.1.1 is the usual default ip address. and you can lookup the default password online somewhere. there it will tell you what your public is.
