Brown hands down.
It has more prestige, although Johns Hopkins is fairly good.
Dump Northwestern. Going to a better school will get you better opportunities. I could go on for hours, but I'd figure I'd keep it short.
GO BROWN GO BROWN!
Ok Taranto, sure Johns Hopkins & Northwestern are respectable schools, but they are not of the same calibur as Brown. I actually went to Stanford to do my undergrad. I digress, anyone acknowledgeable knows that those US Weekly ratings are crap. I don't know what college you're a professor at, but I can assure you that those do not accurately rate universities.

Although I can't speak for Brown and Johns Hopkins, I can say that being a Freshman at NU is great. I highly recommend it. Evanston is nice because although it is a decent sized city, it doesn't feel huge, but if you want the feel of a huge city, the culture of Chicago is so close. All you have to do is to get on the El, and you're in the city. Chicago has so much to offer, museums, concerts, plays, wonderful parks. Northwestern is also located on beautiful Lake Michigan. There are nice bike paths following the lake front. Don't forget that Northwestern has it's own private beach.
NU is also a big 10 school. This means that even though we have great academics, we also have good sports teams.
If you have any questions about NU, feel free to e-mail me at ashlyprincess@yahoo.com. I'd be happy to answer any of your questions about this great school.

I don't know what the others are thinking -- Northwestern, Johns Hopkins and Brown are all ranked the same by US News (#14). All are great school -- and even though Brown is in the Ivy League, the others are just as prestigious.
All of these schools offer a wide array of degrees and are strong in all areas.
Visit the schools to see if you like the campuses. All are in or near a city -- though Baltimore, Providence and Chicago are not cities that I would personally choose.
If being in a city is important to you, have you considered NYU or Columbia? University of Pennsylvania? Emory or Rice? Georgetown? All are in nicer cities.

All of these universities are respectable. No matter which one you happen to chose, you will be in good hands.
The people who have answered here have raised legitimate points. If it's a possibility for you, I would recommend visiting the campuses, getting to know the area, and see what classes/courses they offer before making a final decision.
I'm not too sure about the US News ratings. I was actually looking at it not too long ago and noticed that they have rated CIT above MIT, Duke, Columbia, Brown. I can't say that it's particularly accurate, to me, you can't rate ivy leagues, they seem to fall into the same category. Although the names of universities may carry a heavier weight than others. I wouldn't go strictly by the US News rating.
Good luck! Consider NYU or Cornell (went to NYU, so I'm a bit biased, but it's a great, exciting school).
