As far as we all know, we all could be just a pile of meat, fat, muscle, and bone. But what is missing? The main frame...aka the brain. The brain makes all of your decision making. whether or not to move this muscle or that muscle, whether or not and or when to breathe. It is the CIA of your body. Without nurishment, can we really make rational decisions? Think of it as a motor vehicle. You chose to wake up and go to work or school, do you take the bus? or do you drive your car? Your car needs gas in order to move. And to get from point A to point B your car needs to work together. Whats a car without the engine?

Don't forget to drink a lot of water....they say water is to living creatures as oil is to engines.

well, food is not only the fuel for the body, it is also the building material: fats and proteins are used to make parts of cells while "carbs are the energy" to power those cells; the cells get together to form tissues that get together to form organs that get together to form organ systems that help an organism be more efficient in doing what an organism needs to do--regarless of whether that organism has a huge brain (such as humans) or not (such as an earthworm).

a brain (and consciousness) is just a consequence of these interactions [among nervous cells].
