I mean, it is obvious that it has happened many times! What would happen if one hit the moon and adjusted its orbit by like...just a few feet?

The crowd goes "Ooooooooh!!! Aaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!"

If it's a big enough collision, some of the ejecta might come to Earth and burn up in our atmosphere over the next many many years - so expect a lot more shooting stars to watch after that, too. It's happened before, you know - there are lunar meteorites to be found in Antarctica.

It'd have to be quite a massive collision to actually move the Moon any appreciable amount, though.

Hi. You are correct, the Moon has been hit at least once for each crater you see. The orbit is not likely to change much, and it changes every day due to tidal influence. A few feet closer or farther would not make a noticeable difference in the tides.

It might change its rotation and we will finally be able to see its hidden face !
Or it might change its orbit and with it many earth cyclic phenomena, such as tides and some living creatures cycles synchronized with the moon.

It would change the tide dramaticly, and the view of our cycles of the moon would change. If the moon got close enough to Earth, our gravity would bring it down to us.
