I think it's normal to ask this question in troubled times. And when a government is broken like ours is right now, it makes perfect sense to me. The hope is the peculiar genius of a democratic form of government. Over time it tends to balance itself, to correct wild swings that result from crises and reach a stable point. It remains to be seen whether we can do that under the current stresses. Winston Churchill said that democracy is a very poor form of government --- but it's better than any other form we have been able to come up with.

When democracy is working the way it is supposed to, yes. This is not a democracy, so let other blinded people know that.

However, it is the way WE like to be governed, and we lose that every day we don't fight the wrongs going on ALL OVER our government, and Bush only shares EQUAL to those wrong-doings.

Don't let them do this to us, we're getting thrown under the bus.

Democracy cannot work with any large group. A Republic, like the United States, is the best way to introduce popular opinion into the government.

Woah! I can't believe so many people are knocking democracy! I admit that a lot of political players have been corrupt, but democracy is by far the best form of government in practice. In theory it is definitely the best; in practice, it's just doing pretty well.

No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government, except all those others that have been tried from time to time...

We are not a democracy as all votes are not counted, only the votes that were for the winning candidate.

We need a PR system for a democracy.
