You can fit on the 250R, but is that really the one you want to start on? You will outgrow it within a month. Top speed downhill with the wind pushing you will be no more than about 50 mph and if you strain the engine at that speed for extended periods of time, it will consume oil, requiring you to check it frequently to prevent it running with no oil. I would recommend possibly a Suzuki GS500 because it sits up taller and is a twin cylinder design so it can take highway speeds better. Possibly even a 600 or 750 Katana or an SV650 because they don't have the power of a supersport, but have a good riding position with something you won't grow out of quickly.

Take a look at the Ninja 500 twin.. It is the most sport bike you can get for the money.. Just a little bit bigger than the 250 and a lot more power without getting into the scary high power bikes.. They are liquid cooled, with a smooth 6 speed transmission and very comfortable for a small sport bike.

As the first answerer suggested, the only way to know for sure is to go check one out.

Personally, I can ride my son's Ninja 250 just fine, but I find it on the small side --- I am 5' 11" at 170pounds. But personal preferences differ radically from person to person, so you may feel quite comfortable on it.

Most people who start with the little Ninja go on to larger bikes within a season or so. It's a wonderful starter bike though.

Go to some shops and sit on the bikes to see what you feel comfortable on.
Cruisers will be 10x worse then a sport bike.
I'm a tall guy and prefer dual purpose bikes because of the high seat height.
Some standard bikes have good ergonomics for tall people.
Honda CB250
Honda CB750

I would say yes. I had a 2005 Ninja 250 and my dad sat on it and looked like a monster on it.. he is 6'2". I think you need a taller, heavier bike.. But i know the 2008 ninjas are pretty nice looking!

I can't tell you that. It's different for everyone. I would go and sit on one for a bit and get a feel for it. See if they'll put it up on a stand for you so you can get the feel for it with both feet up on the pegs and sit there for a bit. You'll find out soon enough if you're going to be too cramped or not on it. Then again, if you are, and you don't like it, then you may not want to go with a sport bike. They'll all be about the same with a few minor differences.
