On line we can either be the real us, or a portrail of the person we would like to be. Face to face we adapt to our surroundings and the people who fill our day to day spaces. We do this every day ,whether we feel comfortable with these situations or not .It takes a strong individual to step up to the line and declare themselves different and not one of the crowd because 'different' is found lacking & quickly becomes ostrosised.
When you speak to some one face to face ,how many times do you zone out because you have heard it all before . Every one here has a voice and everyone listens.

Anonymity and knowing that you can say what you want on here there is no big comeback apart from a few written words you can cope with. If you say something face to face you are judged forever on your words, your facial and body language and your attitude. At work especially you have to face these people the next day and the impression they get of you nails yourself every day to that personality, so you have to be careful what you portray I am like you not knowing who i am outside of the computer and i am rather socially inept. With communicating in the spoken word I have a very great difficulty.

Online is anonymous if you want. You don't see emotions and reactions or look anyone in the eye. You don't have to worry about what you look like, how old you are, etc. It's not real, but it is easier.

I don't think that they can express themselves better and more thoroughly online. When you type you have to think of what you're going to say before you say it but in person you just let it out. Or let's hope, unless you're really really self conscience and think out an entire conversation in your head.

Reading your comments, I think it might be you (and probably others too).
It sounds like a real bug-bear to you. It's not for most of us I don't think. I think we just come to places like this for a bit of a laugh and to have a bit of annonymous fun. Other than that, when we interact with others in real life, I think we're ok with ourselves.
Don't hide matey, just be yourself and certainly don't use the internet to hide behind.

It's because you can edit yourself online and you're anonymous. You don't have time to do that in real life situations.

No one has seen you and they don't know you. You are anonymous. For ex: You can be a sex machine on line but be a real nerd in life.

i think people act differently online and can express their real emotions better in writing or wutever besides face to face or in real life because its not so emotional...
face to face stuff gets real emotions come out and the other person sees that in writing or online people cant see your emotions they can only gues..
